A plucky young orphan sent to live with her grandfather in the mountains discovers wonder and adventure around every corner.

Aunt Dete takes Heidi up to the mountains to meet her grandfather. Along the way, Heidi hears stories about him and begins to worry.

Grandfather sends Heidi out to the meadow with Peter, his "Goat General." The two don't get along, but when trouble strikes, they form a bond.

When Karl and his gang capture Heidi, Peter challenges the bully to a dangerous climb. But things don't go quite as planned.

Heidi goes searching for a plant that will help her save a wounded bird, and stumbles across Peter's secret hiding place in the woods.

In the village, Heidi hears Karl plotting to find and attack Peter's tree house. She rushes to warn her friend, and together they make a plan.

Worried that Grandfather is going to send her to school, Heidi runs away. Meanwhile Grandfather gets a surprising letter from Aunt Dete.

After Theresa tricks Heidi into "buying" bread that belongs to someone else, Heidi must prove to the town that she isn't a thief.

Karl and Theresa chase Heidi and Peter to Grandfather's old house in the village. The girls end up trapped in the attic, where no one can hear them.

Villagers set out to hunt a wolf that threatened one of their goats. Meanwhile, Heidi is alone in the woods, where she finds a young wolf cub.

As spring returns, Peter discovers the treasure he kept hidden in the shed has vanished. He and Heidi set a trap for the thieves.
